Summary

Woke-up today at 198.8. I really need to stop stepping on the scale. I suppose I’m desperate to see results, fast, but that’s not happening. I can see the change in my face and body start to take shape, but I’ve plateaued with my weight for sure. Going to stick to the Intermittent Fasting routine today. Had my cup of bulletproof coffee and brought my breakfast to the office. Will start the meal clock at 10AM and shut it down at 8PM again. I’m hoping after a couple days the results will kick-in a bit more.

No workout today, but I plan to hit the trail again tomorrow. It’s a great run, almost 5 miles, with a few tough inclines.

Bulletproof Coffee

Recipes

Here’s my quick and dirty (and somewhat more affordable) version of bulletproof coffee.

What You Need

  • 8-10 oz Cup Coffee (I use a Keurig with Kona or DonutShop)
  • 1 tbsp grass-fed butter
  • 1 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (I use this instead of MCT concentrate.)
  • dash vanilla extract (about a capful)
  • immersion blender (magic bullet or regular blender work too)

Directions

  1. Make your coffee
  2. Toss in remaining ingredients
  3. Blend until frothy

Enjoy!

Midday Workout

20-Minute Run

Summary

Tried a new routine today–time restrained eating aka: intermittent fasting. Basically, the idea is that I limit my food intake to a 10-hour window, then fast/sleep for the remaining 14 hours of the day. I didn’t completely fast, as I made myself a fresh cup of bulletproof joe this morning. But aside from that, I’ve been sticking to eating within the 10AM-8PM window, even if that means I have to bring my breakfast to work. It’s not that I’m eating less, I’m just giving my body time during the fasting period to optimize the fuel I’ve put in. I’m hoping this gives me a little more momentum toward reaching my initial goal. Ten days left until my first cheat day!

So far, this is really going okay. I had a lot of energy today and I’ve been eating better than ever. It was in the 50’s today and I was able to pack in a quick run around Central Park.

Feeling good.

30-Minutes Sprints

Summary

Woke up to see that Gary Taubes was on Joe Rogan Podcast today. Hell yeah! Very exciting. Great podcast. I love that this stuff is finally getting into the mainstream. My mood changed a bit after weigh-in this morning, as I seem to have plateaued some after losing about a pound per day for the first week. I plan to incorporate a time-restrictive eating pattern (vis-a-vis Dr. Rhonda Patrick), to give me a little reboot. My initial goal is to get down to 190 pounds by Superbowl Sunday, which is now just 5 days away. Not looking good. On the flip side, I feel great and I’m eating awesome. Sprints were fun today. I did them on the “tennis courts” in Central Park. Started out with some intervals, then suicides, then finished up with long sprints. Somewhere in the middle, I was almost attacked by a German Shepherd. We’ll see what tomorrow brings!

Oh, one more thing…I’m giving Bulletproof Coffee a whirl tonight. Will post my review/recipe tomorrow.

Cheers!
